Rebecca Carroll
Hello, my name is Rebecca and I am in my second year in GMIT studying to become a DCG and construction studies teacher. More importantly, I went to Ennistymon Vocational School. I joined EVS as a new student in second year, shortly after moving to Ennistymon, and the teachers, staff and students couldn’t have made my transition into the school any easier than it was. My whole experience in the school was a pleasant one, I truly can’t speak highly enough about it. The teachers educated me, encouraged me, helped me, and did their absolute best to meet any needs I had, big or small.
Since starting in secondary school, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher and throughout the years, I developed a particular love for the practical subjects. I love working with my hands, designing, creating and problem solving, and I realised I could do all of these things in woodwork and graphics and that’s why I have chosen a career in it. This year I have returned to Ennistymon Vocational School on work placement as a training teacher, and already, I believe I am gaining excellent experience getting to work alongside incredible teachers and students. My hope is that someday I can have the same effect on my future students’ lives and help them to foster a love for education, just like my past teachers helped me to do.

My time at Ennistymon Vocational School can only be described as incredible. From my first day to my last, the staff and students of the school were the most positive and encouraging people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I remember how I always had a laugh in school and although there is an emphasis on academics you truly receive a well-rounded education along with getting to part take in many extracurricular activities. There was always a huge amount of student support and I felt like I could approach any teacher I wanted just to have a chat or to discuss my worries.
